Lukasz Ograbek - Perfect Imperfections & the kitchen of adaptive intelligence
The Upstairs gallery is delighted to showcase the very first solo exhibition of local West Auckland artist Lukasz Ograbek.
Born in Lodz, Poland in 1983 this young artist is not afraid to express himself through his work and his words. This self-taught artist has an intense passion for liquid application and unites all styles that he loves, taking inspiration from the 'great ones' Dali, Van Gogh, Titian, Rembrandt and Rothko.
Lukasz moved to New Zealand at the age of 13 and comes from a family of artists, learning from his father and uncle who refurbished and rebuilt castles after World War II. His father sold numerous sculptures and metal crafts to various galleries in Lodz and Warsaw.
Painting oil on canvas and other various substrates as a hobby since 2013 Lukasz has drawn with ink and charcoal since he can remember. Having a painting and decorating background he says that he understands the chemistry of liquid and always tries to experiment with many mediums always making sure the adhesion and longevity prevails. It’s not just about the image but the feeling it evokes and the beauty of the way the paint has been laid.
