Unless specifically stated otherwise, none of the content on this site may be reproduced to the public, transmitted or copied without the Gallery’s express written permission, except for the purposes of private study, research, criticism, review or education, in accordance with the Copyright Act 1994:

Visitors to the website do however have permission to share link's containing the the original details of our exhibitions and events. You may also share or reproduce our blog posts and information in the Artists resources area of our website if you:  

  • reproduce the material accurately or include a link to the original source

  • do not use the material in a derogatory manner or a misleading context, and

  • acknowledge the source and copyright status of the material.

Please not that the permission to use New Zealand copyright material does not extend to any material on this site that is identified as being the copyright of a third party i.e. an artist exhibiting or selling their work at The Upstairs Gallery.

Any licence of use does not apply to any logos, emblems and trade marks on the website or to the website’s design elements. Those specific items may not be re-used without express permission.

Photography and filming in the Gallery

You are welcome to take still and video photographs of people and general scenes within the Gallery, the Gallery building itself. There may however be restrictions on specific artworks or collections. For this reason we ask that you obtain permission before recording images or video in the gallery. This restriction may be for cultural reasons, due to copyright law or to protect the objects.
