Through the Window - A reflective journey of love and loss in the landscapes of the Hauraki Plains:

“I didn’t set out to make work about my father, but he kept finding his way in. Last year he was sick; when he died it still surprised me. I travelled often between Auckland and Karangahake, a road I know well. It looked familiar, though never quite the same, and I noticed small shifts. The landscape holds a calm assurance that stays with me. The road carries things steadily – movement, memory, the passing of time. Things don’t arrive as planned, or they do. Nothing is pretty, although it may well be beautiful. Painting helps me to move alongside this, letting forms settle, trusting what arrives.” - Raewyn Curran
