Ronja Schipper
re:purpose Ronja
Ronja Schipper is a mixed media artist originally from Germany, now based in Aotearoa New Zealand. She specialises in upcycled materials - particularly old bicycle inner tubes - transforming discarded items into bold jewellery and sculptural works.
With a background in fashion, publishing, and advertising, Ronja’s creative journey spans clothing, illustration, furniture, and books. Her 2022 participation in Warrior Wahine at The Upstairs Gallery marked a shift in her practice from functional craft to expressive art - a gallery she credits with helping launch her exhibiting journey.
Driven by a passion for sustainability and social connection, Ronja uses undervalued materials to highlight the beauty of reuse and the importance of protecting our planet. Her work invites viewers to reconsider waste, value, and our shared role in environmental care.
