Dasha Volga is a Ukrainian artist: an acclaimed filmmaker, composer, screenplay writer, performer, and fine artist. Her artworks can be found in private collections all over the world: France, Ukraine, Russia, Israel, New Zealand, Nederland, and Great Britain. Dasha describes her abstract art as an intuitive language of storytelling.
Her pop-up solo exhibition ‘Memories caught on canvas' were on show at The Upstairs Art Gallery in Titirangi in the Seminar Room from 23 March to 26 March 2023.
Here is what Dasha says about her exhibition:
‘In my deepest and most true moments in life, I listen to my experience and later find the sound, the colour, or the word to tell the story. I like the idea that an abstract expression always leaves space for every one of us to reflect and read our own unique moment and unique story. Canvas and paints are my tools to dive into my memories and code them in colour. It’s my tribute to the subconscious, to its uncalculating, uncompromising intuitive choices and its raw truth.’
