Angela Amerigo
Working in acrylic on paper, Angela Amerigo creates bold, intuitive compositions that explore joy, rage, femininity, and the contradictions that live inside us. Her paintings read as emotional landscapes, where colour, gesture, and abstraction collide to reveal what is unseen but deeply felt.
Born in Barcelona and raised in Titirangi, Angela’s creative roots began early with after-school art classes at Lopdell House in the ’90s. Though she later studied graphic design and built a career in advertising and marketing, painting remained her true pull.
After five years of intensive painting courses at the Browne School of Art, she recently made the leap to pursue her art practice full-time. Now based in New Lynn with her husband and two children, Angela continues to visualise her inner world through expressive mark-making and layered colour, transforming thoughts, memories, and contradictions into honest, emotive work.
Left "Surrender to the ridiculousness", right "Beautiful Trouble", both 880 x 620mm acrylic on paper, mounted on box board.
