Harinder Rajpal

Harinder Rajpal is a multidisciplinary artist based in Auckland, working across glass, oils, acrylics, mixed media, textiles, and photography. His journey began with sketching and calligraphy in primary school, and an early award for designing his high school magazine cover helped build his creative confidence. Formal training at Delhi University further shaped his artistic direction.

Harinder’s work is deeply influenced by his early career in textile and fashion design. Patterns, textures, and colour relationships remain central to his aesthetic — weaving through his abstract, layered compositions. Emotionally and conceptually, he explores the impact of personal choices and how they shape identity and relationships. His pieces reflect the layered inner world we each carry — complex, beautiful, and constantly evolving.

Harinder has exhibited across Aotearoa, including at The Upstairs Gallery, Depot Artspace, Studio One Toi Tū, and Quay Gallery, as well as internationally in London, New Delhi, and Mumbai. The Upstairs Gallery has played a meaningful role in his local artistic journey, offering a platform for connection and growth within the creative community.
